I've been on a major Erykah kick(is that any different than usual August? you say) since I didn't get to see Erykah live in Oakland. It's been intensified because I was all ready to see her & it didn't happen. The short version is: I had earned tickets to see her by doing marketing for her on the web. But someone or something in their system slipped up so my tickets weren't there at will call like I was told. Talk about disheartening. Sigh . . . .
But let me tell you, they found out about their fuck up, cause I emailed them that same night I got home. So, apologies have been issued & they're sending me an autographed poster/cd & two t-shirts. They also put me on the guest list for Erykah's Las Vegas show but I ended up not going since airfare was just too expensive. There was one other member of her website that this happened too as well at the Redmond, WA show & we both have been raising hell till they rectified the situation. Power to the people!!!!!!
Ok, I had to post this video since there is no recorded cd version of it & I just found it. Erykah just does this one live. I saw her perform it when I saw her last year at Harmony Festival. It's a hilarious song about a naughty woman flirting with a preacher in church!

Ain't that A BITCH. But you know what..this sounds like stuff that has happened to me in film. I financially gave and did marketing for a friend's movie online and he even apologized to me that he made the screw up in the film by failing to include my name in the credits. HOWEVER, the DUMB ASS told me I had to pay for the freaking DVD in order to get it so I was PISSED OFF because I even HELPED the FOOL edit the treatment for his film. So, guess what? I do not even say anything to him about the film nor do I discuss what it was with anyone. Its a great film but for him to tell me that I have to PAY for it is bad business procedure. He has done this more than twice to me so I stopped talking to him or helping him out. No wonder the idiot does not have a web presence because they are afraid to blog or interact with people!
Love love the performance. Thank you for sharing with us and I know things will work out in ways you did not know. Sorry it had to end up like this though. I feel you on the prices or airline tickets! =( Ugh. I mean couldn't Erykah at least call you and THANK YOU for all that you have done. That puts more $ in her pocket and would resolve hurt feelings you have but I bet you she does not even know what has happened. =(

Yea, I'm sure Erykah doesn't even know about all of this. The only way to get a hold of her is to email her agent at William Morris Agency & then I'm sure that goes to her personal assistant or manager. Her promotional site is run by Fancorps, so it's not through anyone of her actual posse. I'm sure if she knew she would apologize & thank me for the work. Oh well, I know it's not her fault.

@augusts1 - yeah, I have been had so many times because the idiots I know in the industry do not have the social graces to either thank me properly or to acknowledge what I have done for them. I just have to let it go so it will not eat me up. This is why I am very cautious who I may try to help because I know in the end that it is not malicious it is just that people are not trained in the social graces of what to do.
Hopefully, someone will get a hold of you and let you know what is up. When I read your post I KNEW exactly how you felt. So, typical. It just irks me to see the miscommunication like this but fortunately with the web just make it public. You know some people do check google alerts on themselves to see what people are saying! 8)

Actually I've been contacted by the admin. on Erykah's site & we've been hammering things out. I received a really cool autographed by Erykah & the artist Emek tour poster & an autographed cd yesterday in the mail yesterday & there are other things in progress(that I talked about in my post at top). So I'm slowly but surely getting my due. But it still doesn't replace being able to actually see her live, but it will happen soon enough.
And I highly doubt Erykah even bothers to check to see what people say about her on the web. I could be wrong though since I don't know her personally.
