MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

Artist:
Track:

It's already the Fourth of July weekend? 2008 is going by quick! Hopefully the year keeps up the pace and before too long it’s August. That's when Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder will hit the road again for a month …sans the band. Vedder and his acoustic will preach solely east of the Mississippi, which is only fair considering his last solo tour was out in the wild wild west. Wonder if he'll be catching any waves off the coast of Boston where his solo tour kicks off August 1st?

You know Vedder is bound to invite some surprise musician pals on stage with him cause he’s just that damn cool. New Zealander Liam Finn will open. Tickets, costing $75 before fees, go on sale to the public via Ticketmaster Friday July 11th, 2008, but tickets for the Newark, NJ show will have to be purchased through njpac.org.

Eddie Vedder Summer Solo Tour Dates:

Aug-02 Boston, MA Opera House
Aug-04 New York, NY United Palace Theatre
Aug-05 New York, NY United Palace Theatre

In other Pearl Jam news, the band raised $3million (gasp!) July 1st at their charity event at New York's 2,800-capacity Beacon Theater. Floor seats went for $2250 but people got their music's worth - a 26-song setlist ($86.50 per song). All proceeds went to the Robin Hood Foundation, which helps fight poverty.

I would do despicable things to get to one of those shows. $75 is okay these days, I've paid more for Springsteen, and many others less awesome than Vedder. This should tell you something about a) the exchange rate and b) the cost of tickets here.

Sadly for me, it's $75 plus flights, accomodation, eats, drinks, shoddily made souvenir t-shirt...

I wish I had a cool picture to put up next to my comments!

But I'm working on it.

$75.00 for Eddie Vedder is a bargain! That man is fantastic!

I was lucky enough to go to the VH1  Who Tribute Concert at Pauley Pavilion (UCLA) in July, & Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam were the best part of that show- (my apologies to Incubus, Foo Fighters & the Who)

They were so good and tight and powerful that the audience did not want to let them leave the stage. Even Eddie Vedder seemed taken aback by the surge of applause and turned around looking astonished at the audience. He is just so damn GOOD! There is no price that you can put on a music experience with him, so you just SUBMIT-as Pete Townsend so aptly put it, and get ready for an EPIC CONCERT! For Sure!
