MOG MOG

MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

Artist:
Track:

Last month, I gave a friend of mine an extra ticket to come with me to see The Stooges. This month it came back around to me in the form of a free Meat Puppets ticket. I love how things like this work in our lives.

I got right up front against the stage. Was crushed and hit in the head and stepped on such as all the things we endure to be up front. But alas I forgot my camera.

All these pics from my husbands cell phone would have been terrible if we weren't that close. Well, worse anyway. They're still a bit blurry. but enjoy.

It was last night. The sound is horrible in there but the lights and snakes and stuff are cool.

sound is ok up front, or at least loud! I was 6 blocks south of you at the Triple Door last night. Probably bumped into you on the street, said excuse me and went on my way! LOL

We were right up front and couldn't even hear the vocals of the opening band. I tried so hard to signal to the sound guy that we couldn't hear. He was in his own world. LOL

What shows do you have lined up for later?

I'm seeing Ben Gibbard tonight, My Chemical Romance tomorrow and Robin williams tuesday--I know that Robin isn't music but its at the Showbox so I'm counting it! Then June 1st I'm going to the Croc for a show that has bits of the Decemberists in it, June 21st Triple Door for Rocky Votolato's CD release, uh....July to Portland for Decemberists and something else--don't remember. August is Lollapalooza and September is Bumbershoot. I'll fill in the calendar later! LOL

Every show I've seen at the Croc, the sound was fine--must have been a fluke or poor stage management. Maybe the sound guy should have joined you all in this world instead of his own!

Rawk, no I didn't get stomped or hit at DC. Punks are very much more aware of their surroundings and less violent than the lame frat boy crowd that comes in looking to cause trouble at venues like the Meat Puppets. You know they hear that Meat Puppets are playing and go "Hey Nirvana covered them, let's go see them." Then get drunk as possible and start moshing when it's not mosh music. It's irritating.

Amber, it probably was just the sound guy. Like I said, Meat Puppets sounded better than the opening band. Could have been the mic too.

LOL!! Well, they covered a couple Nirvana songs. Plateau and Oh me. The drunk assholes all pushed forward and that's when I got stepped on and crushed. Things were fine up till that point. AAAAAAAARgh.

I've been crushed even at a Death Cab show and its always the "frat" boys. You pegged it perfectly. My elbows have gotten sharper over the years, though, and they haven't chased me off yet. Still, damn college kids trying to be all bad ass and all..
