Hi
How are you?
Before getting down to business I want to thank those of you who've taken good care of Christian and his wife. I hear that some good shows have taken place around the country. I know that another great one is taking place in Seattle this coming saturday. So far I've been getting lots of emails telling me that it's impossible not to love Christian and Therese...........and the songs they sing. So...........find Amber's house on saturday.
Back to posting................................
It goes on and on and on. New bands. New albums. New songs. It never stops. I can't keep up and sometimes forget to stop and listen. Only a certain amount of albums makes it through the cut. Some end up on the shelf although they deserve a better life.
Autumn is a great time for this. Take a deep breath and think about what really matters.
I can think of so many new albums out there worth listening to. Tonight I tried to catch up and while making my way through a few albums I found an album by Jason Molina. I'm a big fan of everything he does. The great Songs: Ohia records, the Magnolia Electric Co albums...........+ his solo work.
For some reason it's been a long time since I've been listening to his music. Guess I've been too busy keeping up with the latest sounds. What is wrong with me?
Friends. Are you ready to share a moment with me? Stop doing whatever you're doing and just listen to this song. It's called "Everything Should Try Again".
Lyrics:
You don’t forgive the silence for not speaking up
No matter how hard we’re trying it’s not hard enough
Your eyes before the lightning to meet it by yourself
You’ve been tired and a little sick
You’ve been trying to work with it
You drew your grave on every single map
You don’t plan on staying long
You plan on burning it
No matter how wrong it went
You don’t have much more room to forget (x2)
You don’t forgive even the lightning
For leaving you
But everything should try again
Even you
You followed the train through every prarie dawn
Said "I’d like to see Ohio one more time before it’s gone"
You had your hands up high in a prayer to crush your heart
And every single heart
Was that eight point star
Ever been tired
Ever been a little sick
Ever tried working through it

Hey
My friend Patrick Porter.................you know him. I've talked about him a lot.
Patrick moved to Connecticut and got his own radio show at some small local station. Anyway.................Patrick is all about great music that people don't know but need to hear.
He told me that he's running out of things to play..........so he need good bands to send him some music.
He just made a myspace. You could be his 5th friend.
Anyway.........................if you're making music or know someone who is great but totally unknown...............get in touch.

Posting a great song by Patrick..............that man is so amazingly talented.

Hey man,
I like the sound of his radio show!
I definitely know bands that are really good, but not benefitting from the relentless hype-machines that push so many of these mediocre major label artists.
Thanks for the tip!
Hi good friends, strangers and future enemies
I've been bad at posting these past couple of months. Been busy trying to put my new EP together. It's done now. I will release it in october. Hopefully. Things rarely go as planned. I'm calling it "Home and Other Places I'd Like To Visit". The EP is being mixed and mastered right now. A talented girl in Canada called Melissa Mills is singing on one of the songs. I am really happy about that. Fellow mogger Amber has taken a beautiful picture for the cover. Fellow mogger Erin (goodmusiconly) is once again in charge of the artwork. People around here are so nice. I am really looking forward to showing you the artwork.
I'm posting the opening song here. Many of you have already heard it but this is the final version. My good friend Jim Bob Aiken has been mixing and mastering once again and he is a master at making my songs sound better.
I would love to be able to say that I am giving this EP away for free as well..........but I won't. I like to be able to get back to places like Coachella and meet up with you guys again.....and I like to be able to produce more music. In order to do that I need some money. So..................the EP will be for sale at iTunes, eMusic, Napster etc etc etc etc. More info about that later.
That's all. I will now get back to posting about life and music. So many of your posts have yet to be read. Looking forward to that.
Henry
