Mos Def and Talib Kweli are two pretty cultured and intelligent dudes who use a bunch of allusions(references to something out side of literature) in their rhymes. In this post, I’ll shed some light on those allusions for you from their song RE:DEFINITION. I'll post a lyric then do an explanation. A lot of it is pretty straightforward, so I'm not going to post all the lyrics. here we go:

Here's a great reworking of Slick Rick's "Children's Story" as only Black Star could do. Talib Kweli and Mos Def are dynamic together, yet I've not found either one of them as good individually as they are together. With a lot of Hip hop groups there are always the one or two stand outs, I find myself wishing Blackstar would cut another album together rather than their solo projects.... MORE
