Stream Coldplay's New Single "Violet Hill"

Blog post image preview Yesterday news hit that Coldplay were giving out a free MP3 of their first Viva La Vida single, "Violet Hill." So today I ventured into the inter-space to download the track via the Band's Web site. After being asked for my email, zip code and country of origin I was told to check my inbox for a link to the download. I ran into minor technical difficulties. The link kept demanding a password and user name to access the download. WTF? After cutting and pasting the given d... MORE

The biggest problem with Coldplay is that nobody seems able to accurately judge how good or bad they are. Put ‘Coldplay+boring’ or ‘Coldplay+brilliant’ into Google and you get almost the same (at least on the scale of the internet) number of results. For every review proclaiming them as ‘the next U2’ (and there are many- do a Google search for this, too - I’m trying to convince myself Gwyneth Paltrow didn’t write any of them), there’s a Chuck Klosterman piece calling them ... Well the football season has started again here in the uk with the premiership and champions league which hopefully means a few more visits to the pub at weekends work permitting "Maybe it was ambitious to try and play football against a team of Brazilians; we did well until they brought on their star players - the rest was a bit embarrasing.

Blog post image preview From new album, Coldplay is still brilliant. Lost! is reminiscent of their older work - The Scientist, piano-driven vocal. After listening, I was not so sure, Am i lost?

Viva La Vida - Premiere Official Music Video

(150)
Blog post image preview
Here's a link to the Coldplay Website to view the official Music Video of Viva La Vida. I'm so happy! yay finally! What do you all think of it? It's not bad. My favorite element of the video would be the rose petals.   I also uploaded Lovers In Japan/Reign Of Love, a sweet song. Enjoy http://www.coldplay.com/vivavideo1.php

As The Queen's Princess alerted us last week, Coldplay released the brand new video for "Viva La Vida."  It's a gorgeous video with vibrant colours and dramatic videography.  Today, however, an alternate version popped up at OnSmash and it's completely different than the "official" version.  Where the 1st video is intensely high quality, this 2nd one is intentionally grainy.  And the story-lines are a bit different too.  When I think of the 1st version, I can't get that im... www.coldplay.comwww.myspace.com/coldplay I remember seeing Coldplay in concert out in Marysville during the release of A Rush of Blood to the Head. Chris Martin, appearing late because he was getting a "haircut" from whom the crowd whispered was Gwyneth Paltrow backstage, addressed us at the open: "Hello, uh, I'm not sure where we are... Sacramento?" I'd blame the guy for being off his frontman game, but honestly I didn't really know where we were at the time either... MORE

Who is buying this sh*t!!!!! I mean, really? The only CD on this Top 10 list that I would (and do) listen to is Coldplay's Viva la Vida and maybe Jason Mraz but that's debatable. It's a sad day when a music blogger, such as myself, is so out of line with the populated masses. Or is it? Would you buy (or have you bought) any of these albums that are on the Top 10? Update: I just realized that The ~~

Blog post image preview Do Coldplay have the balls to release their new album Viva La Vida pro bono, like their fellow Brits Radiohead? No. But Chris Martin and Co. are doing their best to keep fans happy while bringing the bread home by treating the world's internet users with a free MP3 of the album's first single "Violet Hill." It ain't no free record, but at least Coldplay are attempting to keep up with the evolution of the record industry since the release of their last album, 2005's X&Y. ... MORE

Blog post image preview Giving away free music is addicting for Coldplay. Last week Coldplay successfully released their first single "Violet Hill" as a free MP3 via their Web site and some 2 million people downloaded the track. (Even Coldplay is surprised at the number, I'm sure). Now the band are giving away their next single "A Spell A Rebel Yell," which sorta rips off U2 "Mothers of the Disappeared." The band is pulling a Prince, who last July released his latest album Planet Earth via t... MORE

Yesterday my roommate Joel and I were having a conversation about Coldplay. With the release of Viva La Vida they are sort of everywhere. Joel was saying how with every passing day he couldn't stand Coldplay more and more. He use to really like them during the Parachute and Rush Of Blood To The Head days. I was saying how I feel like the general population says they can't stand Coldplay, yet they remain to be one of the biggest bands out there. In any case this past week t... MORE

Chris Martin's Brain

(112)
Blog post image preview For what you are about to read, let me first preface by saying that I mean no offense to any fan of Coldplay's, and especially no offense to anybody who is religious on any level.  This is strictly in jest to the artists across the pond that are rapidly cascading downwards on my list of likable artists. From SPIN magazine: "So, does Coldplay think Viva La Vida can save EMI?  'No, but it'll probably save the world,' Chris Martin deadpans. 'I don't want to blow my own trum... MORE

Coldplay & Shakespeare: For in that sleep of death what dreams may come

Blog post image preview

Last night, on my lunch break at the bookstore, I put on my headphones and listened to Viva La Vida on shuffle. During my sonic excursions I began to notice a theme that I touched upon on my initial review of Viva La Vida. I noticed that there were images of death, sleep and acts while dreaming sprinkled throughout the songs. This is when my English major mindset went to work dissecting the lyrics and by comparing them to a classic line from Shakespeare. I have a theor... MORE
