on their myspace, sigur ros has uploaded a new video player called 'dot' and they promise to keep it updated. the first video is of the guys mixing a new song for the highly anticipated fifth studio album. they huddle around the monitors like a warm fire. im sure if feels the same. the volume is low so you might have to crank it up. sam out.

Sigur Ros are smokin'! The band's 2007 documentary Heima was just named the Top All-Time Documentary by IMDB, the highly respected movie industry database. Heima, which followed the band on the 2006 tour of their homeland, beats out Martin Scorsese's Bob Dylan homage No Direction Home and all of Michael Moore's provocative films, despite Moore getting more votes. If you haven't figured it out yet, Sigur Ros are the bigest things to come from Iceland since Bjork, screatch that, Leif Ericson! With the release of new LP Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust imminent(I don't know what that means either) June 23 from EMI in the UK and June 24 on XL in North America. A few years back I took a summer vaykay that included a stop in Iceland at the end of June. Oh, how I wish that vaykay were happening this year, because it'd coordinate perfectly with the free open air Náttúra concert Bjork and Sigur Ros are playing on June 28th in their homeland. The environmentally-charged concert's goal is to raise awareness of the destruction of Iceland's natural landscape.

You still can't understand what Sigur Ros are singing in their native Icelandic in the band's latest single "Gobbledigook," but it sure does echo the title of the album Með Suð í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaus which translates into "with a buzz in our ear we play endlessly." The Icelandic group Sigur Ros song has been used in the trailer for the forthcoming new edition of classic computer game 'Prince Of Persia,' reports NME.
Thier tsong 'Saeglopur', taken from their 2005 album Takk...(Geffen), is used in the new trailer for the action game(below). It just goes to show the money involved in the video game industry; being able to pluck one of the most popular bands for their commercial efforts, and I bet the bands' don't mind the money either.... Sigur Rós have posted details of their latest album on their website, sigurros.com The album title is a bit of a mouthful,Með Suð í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust which, when put through an online translator (those ever accurate tools) comes out as 'With white noise into pectoral fin accustom playback eternally'... but the press release states that it means 'With a buzz in our ear we play endlessly'. We were all excited to hear Ryan McGinley sun-blessed nude images would be used in Sigur Ros's new album cover. But I didn't know such aesthetics would transcend to their music videos tho. Some kind soul ripped this from the Radio 1 show last night. So it's not the best quality but still sounds amazing. All 9 minutes 24 seconds of it. Love the whistling at the end!
