The Police played what is being coined as their final gig ever last night at NYC's Madison Garden. And from the photo above..it really was their last show ever Not only did the band give a shout out to famous band trio's of all time covering Cream's "Sunshine of Your Love" and then later in the set the Jimi Hendrix Experience's "Purple Haze." The band gave a shout out to NYC's finest wearing police uniform's during "Message in a Bottle." And cameras followed Sting back... MORE
Check out this undeniably "' SpinalTap-esque" ,three way interview on radio four Front Row.they have three seperate dressing rooms..walk offstage to three waiting limos etc.. They play their last show ever, apparently, this thursday at Madison Square Garden..They obviously dont want to stand so close,er lack any Synchronicity..CAN stand losing each other..but cant help looking at each other and realising that they did have "something",and that they owe their fortunes to ea... So, tonight, I get the chance to tackle two musical firsts: Seeing Elvis Costello for the first time, and seeing The Police for the first time. I've never seen Sting, either, but this is a Police show, dammit. :) Links ahoy, so bear with me. I remember hearing "Roxanne" as far back as when I first lived in California, which was probably 1979. I'm sure I heard their music again in the intervening years, as "Walking on the Moon" and "Message in a Bottle" were familiar whe... MORE
In 1982 Sting played the Devil in a movie called Brimstone and Treacle, and The Police wrote a devastating song called I Burn For You. Sting later covered it on his first solo album along with a few other Police covers, which at the time seemed to be a statement - I wrote these, or something similar. I go back and forth between the versions. It seems to me that the original version is more dangerous and the jazz version he did with Omar Hakim, Branford Marsalis and Kenny K... MORE
"Woop Woop - it's the sound of The Police..." The Police will sound off for the last time with a concert in NYC in August. The band will play its final concert ever, a fundraiser benefiting arts programming on public tv stations WNET and WLIW in NY. In addition to the concert proceeds going to a good cause, Sting and The Police will contribute $1 million to the MillionTreesNYC project, which the city will match! The MillionTreesNYC initiative plants trees all over NYC. ... MORE
Could hear "Get Up Stand Up" by the Master Marley as we walked up to the stadium gates and were greeted with one of the greatest bands in the world. Can't even remember the opening tune cause I was in another world - couldn't believe I was there. Filth concert, sucking beer, watching the full moon, and one of the best gigs of my life! I will never forget it...ever!
You should read my blog if you want to know why I'm posting this song. You should do a lot of things. Exercise is one such thing. Okra is another.

Look. I'm not a Christian. I'm grateful to get the day off of work. But if I didn't it wouldn't be the end of the world. So as a result I am not going to do a Xmas realted post. But then again... My girlfriend received a replacement iPod from me (I'll give all of the ugly details if you really want it...I'm an unapologetic atheist...there I said it)."I want to copy some of your music".Okay. But there is a lot to pick from.Anyway. She chose the Police boxset that... MORE
Well, a musical snapshot of me right now would feature a few things:
1. Me streaming Carrie Underwood's Carnival Ride off CMT.com for the jillionth time, wondering if they put drugs in her music.
2. Me thrilled that after watching Excalibur, my stepson is walking around humming "Carmina Burana." He's already a chorushead, and also percussionist in the school band...
