MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

Artist:
Track: Bring It On Home Back to Me

Before I get to the titular actual music content, let me go ahead and complain/explain a little:

(1) I am aware that my mog is titled "Son House", yet my picture is that of Robert Johnson.

(2) I don't know how to reply to comments. But I thank the person that actually helped me out w/ a link a few days ago.

(3) I have no idea how to "make friends" on this thing. So we'll see how that goes.

Now, actual music. I used to vacillate on whether Otis Redding or Sam Cooke is the greatest singer of all-time. While I tend to think Redding's voice comes across better on his studio recordings, Cooke will always have the "Live at the Harlem Square Club." It's a short set, but it is a small but representative sample, showing that Cooke could do the gritty along with the smooth. It's my favorite live recording of all-time, and "Bring it On Home to Me" from that show is probably my favorite live song of all time.

aaaand it won't let me post an mp3, which kind of steals a lot of thunder from this post. But I am going to keep it anyway.

This is eerie: Robert Johnson returns under Son House's name in MOG post 66666. So far as the Johnson legend goes, that's befitting.

I think I'd go with Otis Redding myself, at least in the category of male soul singers.

Good catch chainsaw -- Mog is getting its voodoo on!

I tend to stay away from "all-time greatest _insert topic here_" arguments, but I too would lean toward Otis in the male soul singer category.

And as far as making friends goes, good to meet you, SonHouse. Welcome to MOG. :)

Spooky the 66666 thing..hey welcome to MOG, cool post, cool name.cool avatar, and a great question..I'm an Otis guy, but Sam was real, real good. He just didn't show it enough on his RCA records. The gospel records are another story. I did a post about the greatest soul singer back in the day.

I am woefully undereducated about SonHouse and Robert Johnson (because I honestly don't know who either is, ahem) and I have no opinion on Otis vs.Sam. I defer to other's better judgment.

That leaves 2 and 3. To respond, post a comment right here on your own post. And 3, keep doing posts that attract people's interest (hard to do with so many people on here I know) and comment on other people's posts so that more people get to meet you. You see someone you like, click their their name to go to their page and add them to your trusted mogs (link up top).

Welcome :)

If you can't post an MP3, perhaps the track you are trying to post is actually an MP4 or an AAC file. Double check this, and if you still are having issues, please MOGmail me and I will help you out.

Thanks for all the help, welcome comments, etc.

I think the file I tried to post was a mp4, which would explain a lot (including that I am an idiot).
