Hello Moggers! Thanks for all your help last week. I made it to the second round of a $20,000 college scholarship competition.

http://www.zinch.com/Anonymous/ViewMatchUp.aspx?u1=124407&u2=137356

And vote for Anna Vignet by clicking on the "Vote Me!" button on the left under my profile.

You can also see a couple youtube videos I made to promote myself here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=qZambf5TAUw http://youtube.com/watch?v=y9Cc-eKnZns

Thanks!

And now, some musical musings...

New Man Man! It's pretty cool but it made me realize how amazing Six Demon Bag is. I love their craziness though. It'll take a few more intense listenings before I can really get into Rabbit Habits, the new one.

Hello Mog Users!

http://www.zinch.com/Anonymous/Regionals.aspx

I was one of 200 selected out of 150,000 to compete for a 20,000 dollar scholarship through this website, Zinch.com.

If you could help me out by going to the above link, looking under "West #2", and voting for Anna Vignet, that would be amazing. Anyone at all can vote, but if you join Zinch, then your vote is worth two instead of one.

This website is dedicated to showing colleges that you are more than just your test scores. You can show colleges other aspects about you that are not commonly thought about in a college application by uploading audio, video, writing, artwork, etc. It was nice practice filling everything out on the website before I did my college applications and a couple places like UCSD and UCSB recruited me through the website.

And I don't mean to offend anyone by asking you to vote for me if I've never met you, as a forum I frequent bluntly and harshly pointed out to me. I'm simply trying to use whatever resources I can, because, quite frankly, 20,000 dollars is a lot of money (however crappy the dollar is nowadays...) and I would love to go to college.

Thanks Anna

Bottom of the Hill is a venue for live music in San Francisco that looks like it's in the bottom of someone's house. There's a small stage, framed with those little Christmas lights, an outdoor pattio and a pool table covered in stickers. It's a nice little place to go see music.

I used to think that Bottom of the Hill was a clever name because a lot of relatively unknown bands play there, and the name symbolizes the hill the band is going to have to battle to achieve success, and playing at the club was like starting at the bottom of that hill.

But then I realized it was clever because it's in Potrero Hill, this semi-dangerous neighborhood (that houses one of the coolest art stores, Arch) and the club is near the bottom of the hill.

In any case, The Mountain Goats are coming back, one week less than a year to the day that they were here last year. I think Bottom of the Hill is one of their favorite venues. This show might be a part of NoisePop, but I'm not sure.

Saw Yo La Tengo there a quarter-lifetime ago, though I'd nearly forgotten. I wager one feels fondly about the club in inverse proportion to one's reliance on public transportation; it's a bit tucked away. I'm surprised to hear it's still around, much less hosting the Goats.
