I'm going to Nice, France tomorrow (with YellowBird) and being on a plane is one of my favourite places to listen to music, especially during take-off. Thankfully I can hide the earphones with my hair so the air stewards don't see and make me turn it off :)
We usually listen to the same album on our own ipods when we fly, sorta synchronised, and we usually choose a new release which we haven't heard yet, but we can't decide which album to pick this time. The flight is only 3.5 hours or so.
Any suggestions? We're open to anything! It's annoying that the new Conor Oberst and the new Faint albums are released after we get back. Please help!

That's an impressive tour. And he's coming to Belfast! SO happy. The album, simply entitled Conor Oberst, is released on the 4th of August in the UK and the 5th in the US and you can stream two of the tracks at www.conoroberst.com - mog wouldn't let me upload a track :(

See you there missus. I want to make him a bouquet of summer flowers like I always do for you and throw it at him on stage. Not at his feet, at HIM. I think he'd appreciate my quirky sense of humour and perhaps, in return, throw himself at me...

The whole new album from Sigur Rós, Með Suð í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust, is available for streaming on their dót widget here:

I'm resisting the urge, cos I want to wait and buy the CD. But it's tough! Let me know what you make of it.

wow wow wow. I'm still listening to this, but so far I love it. Thanks for sharing this, and props to you for having will power and waiting! Have you checked out the video. for "Gobbledigook" yet? There is a whole lot of nudity, but its a great song and video!
duh, I guess I should have read your other fabulous sigur ros posts before commenting :P hehe
aww is it really amazing? it's so hard to not listen, but i'd rather hear it from the cd through my fabulous speakers than from an online stream through shitty laptop speakers lol. it'll be worth it!
and yeah the Gobbledigook video is fantastic, really love it. I've been posting a lot about sigur ros recently because so much has been happening. only 2 weeks to wait!

It's a little dry out there now in new release world, but the Fleet Foxes disc is pretty good. Sometimes, I'll stock up on podcasts (for the inner geek in me). For music, WNYC's Soundcheck is pretty good. NPR's All Songs Considered is good for music fans. Also, NPR's Fresh Air has some good pieces - they'll sometimes feature a new album but usually it's a piece on politics or entertainment. Enjoy your trip!
I was gonna say Fleet Foxes! The Black Keys Attack & Release is fairly new. I only just caught onto a few weeks ago and it's really good, has been compared to a White Stripes sound.
