All is not what it seems in American suburbia. I can't believe I have made it to number 8 in this series and NOT used a Sofia Coppola example yet! The use of Air's music as a score for the troubled suburb that was the setting for Coppola's movie 'The Virgin Suicides' was brilliant...and no song was as perfect as 'Playground Love.'
It may not really be so late where you are, hell it might be early. But right here now is just that time of might. I had this cd years ago and sold it. Dumb. I use to use it for nightime I need to go to sleep music. Worked every time.
I'd intended on putting this up on Valentine's Day, but Mog was acting wonkily, so I was not able to. Alas. When I was a kid, there used to be a restaurant in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida where my grandparents would take us every year when we went down to visit them. It was called Musicana, and its big gimmick was that your waiter or waitress would - in between taking orders and delivering your grub - get up and sing. Given the particular demographic they were catering to (... MORE
We only managed to get back to OKC for Christmas 2006 by talking my work into granting a temporary transfer to the Target on May Ave in OKC. So I worked 8 hour days there, bumping into all sorts of old friends who were shocked that I wasn't in Florida. A few people thought Erika and I had broken up. I was an odd fit at the May Ave Target. I've been on the east coast long enough to forget that people in OKC are suspicious of outsiders and they considered me a Floridian. T... MORE
Frequency Following Response (FFR) or brain entrainment is a phenomena where the brain locks on to an external signal and begins to mirror it, or follow it, which produces a change in the brain's chemistry, which translates into altered behavior. ( Jose Delgado was studying this in the 60s, at Yale, where he found that a modulated radio frequency could alter mood.) The dark side of this phenomena is where a device like HAARP and its pulsed radio frequency energy could ... MORE

...it was unintentional. I haven't felt particularly compelled to write about music lately. That doesn't mean I haven't been enjoying music. Quite the contrary, in fact. One interesting side effect of having my Creative Zen is the urge to listen to albums I haven't listened to in a while. One day, I wanted to listen to The Avalanches' Since I Left You. So, I ripped it to MP3s (even though they're hardly the right format for this album), put them on my player, and s... MORE
Two major groups and several minor groups share the common name Air. Chronologically, the first major band was the jazz trio with its roots steeped in Chicago's Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM), and was formed originally in 1971 or 1972; the second is the French band that formed in 1995. Out of deference to the popularity of the latter, its biography will precede the older band. The French band AIR is a duo consisting of Nicolas Godin and Jean... MORE
I'm just sitting here at my computer listening to music and watching my music collection mogify while my boyfriend alternates between doing homework and playing video games.
At first all I wanted to listen to was Guns N' Roses, but then I switch to Air. So for this is the song I like best this evening.
Frenchies Air have released the single for "Mer Du Japon" a track off their latest and fifth studio album Pocket Symphony on iTunes. The song has been remixed not once, but thrice! The first remix has new vocals from the duo (Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel), while the remaining two remixes come from Kris Menace and The Teenagers. Mer du Japon: 1. Mer du Japon (Radio mix)2. Mer du Japon (Kris Menace remix)3. Mer du Japon (the Teenagers remix) Orignal "Mer du Japon... MORE
