Blog post image preview For almost 3 years now, I have been carrying the ugliest accessory known to man.  It’s gray, boxy, and awkward- so un-GQ; it’s probably been banned in Japan and scoffed at in Sweden. It’s hideous, heavy, and doesn't 'slide' into anything without making its presence known.
Not even that, but if we just for a minute pretend looks don’t matter, it doesn’t even have substance beneath its steely glare. Though I say it's reliable, I am lying like a chick settling for a crac... MORE

From AP:
Sing us one last song at Shea, Piano Man Billy Joel bade a stirring farewell to Shea Stadium on Friday during an electrifying, sold-out final show at the same ballpark where the Beatles famously ushered in a new era in rock 'n' roll four decades ago. He was joined by an all-star lineup of friends including Paul McCartney, who told Joel, "Came here a long time ago. We had a blast that night and we're having another one tonight." "Good evening, Shea Stadium. Is

Billy Joel Releases Anti-War Song; Hands Over The Reigns To A Youngster

Artist:
Track: Christmas in Fallujah
Other Tags: Cass Dillon
Blog post image preview Billy Joel's new song "Christmas in Fallujah" is an anti-war song written to remind us about the turmoil in the Middle East as we approach our holiday season. The 58 year old Piano Man feels he is too old to sing the song, which was inspired by letters Joel received from soldiers in Iraq. So he gave it to Cass Dillon, a 21-year-old singer-songwriter from Long Island. "I thought it should be somebody young, about a soldier's age," Joel said in a statement on his Web sit... MORE

I was cruising the web and happened across MOG's Billy Joel page.   I work for Rocks Off, New York City's sweetest independent concert promoter.  We're best known for running (totally sweet) concerts on boats that circle Manhattan during the summer, but we're also running cruises to the Billy Joel shows at Shea Stadium on July 16 and 18, and I thought you guys should know about these awesome parties.  There's going to be booze, snacks, music, and a refreshing breeze, as we... I searched for this song (written by Billy Joel) and finally found it with iTunes power search. The album and single are by Cass Dillon. You can find it by searching under Cass Dillon, and not Billy Joel. You can't hear very much of it unless you buy it, but maybe enough :-)) And there's some interesting stuff from an album by the same name performed by Jefferson Pepper. Hope this helps anyone trying to find the song. Links, guys?

I'm blatantly ripping this off of The Times Online, but this is MOG, and we know how to cuss and stuff. Visit the link to do a legit update or post a line or lyric to Billy Joel's song "We Didn't Start The Fire" Here's the video in case you need a refresher. I'll post the lyrics of the ones I deem the best.

The incredibly great Literary Quarterly McSweeney's has this great piece by John Moe on it's website:

Hi, Billy, It's hard to find time to talk at the club since I'm busy managing the place and you're at the piano. And we need to talk. I've occasionally given you a nervous smile hoping it would initiate a conversation, but that hasn't worked out.... MORE

Blog post image preview So, I rang in the New Year with Sean Nelson and the rest of Harvey Danger at The Crocodile Cafe in Seattle. It was a great show where he sang the whole 2nd side of Abbey Road and a bunch of his stuff and what he said was the best of the best--Jet by Wings. What disturbed me was that he covered what he called "the best of the worst" songs and that was Italian Restaurant by Billy Joel. Now, in the 80's , I thoughly enjoyed Billy and I knew every single freaking word to t... MORE

Music from the Ex - Part 1

Artist:
Album:
Track:
Blog post image preview My highschool sweetheart recently contacted me after a number of years without any communication. I won't go into that though, since I'm trying to keep this musically related. However, it has given me an idea for a new series. Since I have always really been into music, I've taken notice of the musical preferences of my significant others. In retrospect, I'm noticing that there is no solid connection between similar tastes in music and the longevity of a relationship, ... MORE
