Night Moves is probably my favorite song of growing up nostalgia (even more so than gasp...Paradise by the Dashboard Light). As soon as I hear that intro it just makes me happy, what can I say. Below is a searchles tv channel of Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band playing some of their greatest hits live (Night Moves, Against the Wind, Hollywood Nights, Accompany Me, etc) - mostly from a show in Largo, MD in 1980 but a few clips from some 1978 shows as well.
I just responded to another post about a musical journey, and it brought to mind the ability that music has to evoke rich memories of times long past.. so vivid that you can recall even the smells around you at the time.. and so what are the songs in your rich life tapestry that evoke these long past memories.. for good or bad? For me, the good might be Israel Kamakawiwo'Ole - Somewhere Over the Rainbow, recalling my not so long ago Hawaiian honeymoon.. the not-so-good ... MORE
"Uncle" Bob isn't all about the "Old Time Rock n" Roll", at one time he was all about the garage rock. With the weather as it is today, this song is appropriate.
Alright guys I thought this would be fitting since I am going on a road trip with one of my best friends and we are leaving tonight. Basically, I won't be around for about a week, I know I know everyone will be really worried and miss me a wholeeeeeeee bunch, but you'll deal! Anyhoo, I thought I would leave you guys with this great hit by Bob Seger. Something a lot of people don't know about this song, Turn the Page, is really about Amphetamines. If you don't believe me ch... MORE
I had posted this as a comment in someone else's Mog, but I've been listening to this 45 over and over again the last few days, so I'm reissuing it as a 20th Century Millennium Post: The primal, gut instinct of every human under 40 to shoot Bob Seger with a Silver Bullet is still warranted, but contrary to popular belief, he has not ALWAYS sucked. That first album on Capitol is pretty good, a hard-driving rocker. The song “2+2=?” is probably the greatest antiwar track ... MORE
Last night Tim and I went to the Bob Seger concert. We got the tickets for free from my stepmom, who couldn't go. When the tickets went on sale I considered buying some because it has been a long time since he has toured, and while I wouldn't rank him as one of my all-time favorites, I did hear his music a lot growing up and it might be cool to see him. But I couldn't afford it. I can always afford free, though. The show was really good. His musicians were great. I... MORE

Before he got watered down:
Bob Seger and The Last Heard is pretty awesome too. Damn, what happened?
I have recently seen two shows that required a two hour drive to get to. A few weeks ago it was Archie Bronson Outfit in Detroit and last night it was Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band. My modern/alternative/indie rock-loving friends constantly mock me for my love of classic rock. But the stark differences in the quality of these two shows have almost convinced me that classic rock is classic for a reason and that sometimes promising young bands fade away into obscurity... Wow, I just listened to the new Bob Seger CD at Rhapsody (how nice they give me 25 free songs per month, per machine).
I can't believe, but the CD is pretty dang good for an old-timer who hasn't been very active... I may hafta get the CD and see him in concert next year.
