Quite a few people have been wondering what is up with the bands this year. After two years of 100+ shows a year I guess it is a little odd to see just a couple of upcoming shows on our websites. Well i suppose the answer is obvious. we needed to go home and rest, resume our lives and work on new music.

CRACKER

Cracker is currently doing songwriting for a new album. we don't have a release date but if we put something out in the fall that would suit us.

Five days a week my body is a temple. The other two it's an amusement park.
We have enough youth. How about a fountain of "smart"?

Listen, its all connected in ways we can never perceive. From that stirring creature at the bottom of a dark scottish loch, to the zombies in their cubicles starring glassy-eyed at the clock, From the earthworm to the cloud. The agony of indifference

Mogger Pinkertonwasbetter" reminded me to look look out "Wilco"'s  "Summerteeth" ..and another album from around the same time came to mind "Kerosene Hat" by "Cracker" ..out of the two i think i prefered "Cracker" ,but i lost track of both, and i never did get a "Weezer" album until much more recently ..i suppose i fell out of love with alternative pop/rock for a while back there...Of course as far as Wilco goes,i see they are going strong at the "Lollylopaloozee" and at t... Musical wisdom for my teen

Blog post image preview My baby turned 13 this weekend. I was curious about what was hitting the charts when I turned 13 in July, 1975. Know what musical inspirations were available to me? Captain & Tennille's Love Will Keep Us Together. Wildfire by Michael Murphy. It's a wonder I listened to the radio at all. This was way before I started buying my own albums so radio was all there was to me. Fortunately there were better choices on the horizon - Eagles' One of These Nights and Elton John's Capt... MORE

Fatherhood

Ellen Kushner hosts a Sound & Spirit Fathers' Day special about what our fathers mean to us. Music and poetry, myths and stories from the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia combine to show what it is to have and to be a father. Listen or Link My Father died from cihrosis in '91 less than three years after retiring. Our relationship was emotionally crippled from the start and certainly was never like this:

Soundboard + Audience mix recordings

Audience recordings are real. They are actual recordings of what happened AND what it sounded like. The potential problem with soundboard (direct line) recordings is that if one instrument or voice is loud on stage, it will not be captured on a simple board feed, and the opposite is true too, that if some sounds are NOT loud on stage, they will be heavy in the mix. In effect, the soundboard tape is the OPPOSITE of the actual sound, unless the band's stage mix is so perfect... MORE

Is it really that bad?

Blog post image preview Sometimes I get a notion to dump my crap upon the net, but the web is so tangled already, it just might break. Link to Internet Archives Johnny Hickman and David Lowery put on a wonderful show last night at The Narrows, my only regret was that you were not there to share in it, all of you. well wouldn't you know it, talent comes to pensacola. i went down to the local beachside bar (Flounder's) and caught me a show. "who did you see," you might add. well, i don't know if you were affluent in alternative music from the early 90's until now, but if you've heard of the band Cracker, you know who i'm talkin about. it was a great show. the band went through the gamut of their work (13 years worth) included great singles such as: "teen angst (what the world needs n... Blog post image preview Greenland. Cold. Desolate. Foreign. Maybe some of the thoughts that spring to mind when you think of this little slice of ice. Greenland is also the title of the latest release by the American band Cracker. As with all Cracker CD’s, the lyricism is superb, and the musicianship of David Lowery and Johnny Hickman and company is 5 star. With this being the first release of Cracker material since 2003, if you are a fan, or new to them, you will not be disappointed. Cracker, ... MORE
