No Philosophy tonight - promise - that wore me out. Howz 'bout an encore from the Armada, and check out the short clip of my son Dylan, pro-snowboarder-wannabe. He's got a good start on it!
I was at a furniture store downtown a couple of weeks ago and heard an awesome cover of Madonna's "Crazy For You." I wondered who it was and did some research and I'm pretty sure it's Groove Armada with The Rakes' frontman, Alan Donohue.
Give it a listen:
Pretty good, no?
…Playlists! Even if getting off your ass is “like trying to hide the daylight from the sun”...mogger’s can make it happen! (Get you off your ass that is…I’m not sure if moggers would be successful at the other yet…anything seems possible with you all though!) Everyone was so kind to comment with thoughts of motivational, body moving music in a post I did a few weeks back when I asked for help. See the post and ideas here. Since I’m the type of person who has trouble... MORE
Groove Armada's Lovebox festival hit Dublin over the weekend. The one day event also featured Toots and the Maytals, Super Furry Animals, The Rapture, and a whole gaggle of DJs. Of course, the day belonged to Groove Armada in more ways than one. They blew the crowd away. So much so, I didn't get one half-decent photo of them. Oh well. Here's some I did get: DJ Andy Smith of Portishead and friends (namely, the girlfriend and myself)... Massive Attack's Daddy G w... MORE
Faster is officially the new fast, (despite my earlier shout-out for slow ). How do I know this? Because now even badminton is an extreme speed sport. I was recently contacted with a request to license We Do Supersonic for the inaugural Speedminton tournament in New Orleans. (They approached me because they'd heard of the use of that same song in a Fast Yoga competition.) Speedminton, for those who don't know, is badminton on four-times-fast-forward. Here's how t... MORE
Here's a great vid by Groove Armada called "Get Down". Proof that bunnies do multiply faster than most species @=P!
Love this song, it be bumpin'too. I didn't know GA had released a new album back in May of '07. Love these guys.
"Pioneering UK dance duo Groove Armada have inked a “one year multi-faceted marketing agreement” with Bacardi to release their material exclusively through its worldwide B-Live project. The B-Live concept has so far run in 25 countries around the world, and Groove Armada signing on will see them headline and curate each upcoming event."
The question is: when will Guinness buy The Pogues and how many kegs will they sign... MORE
Sci-fi geek that I am, I was enjoying an episode from the inaugural season of “Torchwood” yesterday. Music geek that I am, I was rather amused to hear a rather unlikely song pop up right in the middle of said episode. “Torchwood,” for those not in the know, is the slightly more adult-skewed spin-off of the recently invigorated, Hugo Award-winning U.K. television show “Doctor Who.” Currently airing in the U.S. on the BBC America cable channel, “Torchwood” is sort of an am... "At The River" - (Extra Chilled). .Groove Armada are a electronic music group from Cambridge, England, composed of two members, Andy Cato (real name Andrew Cocup) and Tom Findlay. They first came to fame with a 1997 limited single release, "At The River", which sampled "Old Cape Cod" by Patti Page. The song has since been found on numerous chill out compilations. One of their most popular works is their 2000 international hit "I See You Baby", remixed by Fatboy Sl... MORE
Found this on Pitchfork's blog. It's the as-yet-unreleased video for Groove Armada's new single, "Get Down" from their new album, "Soundboy Rock". I SO cannot wait for this album to come out. The video, in line with my quest for cool animated videos, is really funny and well animated. I couldn't tell the bunnies weren't real for a second until they started dancing. It's a little too smooth for a person in a suit to do properly and once they multiply (they are bunnies and t... MORE
