Mystify Me

For some reason I've had this song in my head the past couple of days. I think it's because I mentioned INXS in that post I made the other day about band lineup changes. I still love this song. I forgot how much I still love this song until just the other day. The Doc Martens in the video have me feeling nostalgic. I think I'll wear a pair of my Docs to knitting group tomorrow.

Songs with V-IV-I Cadence #4

Artist:
Album:
Track: Burn For You [Extended Mix}
(13)
Blog post image preview Here's another one, this one's a good song, great song in fact. The instrumental bridge about 4 minutes in is total suspended chord cadence, and it works great! I'm getting a bit over this now, this is the last V-IV-I cadence post, I'm sure you get the idea lol.

One music obsessed man's opinion

Artist:
Album:
Track:

For some reason, in my mind I have always linked U2 and INXS. Maybe it's the era or maybe it's the alphabetic names. I don't know. But in my musically warped mind they are forever linked. And here is my take. I have never, ever connected with U2. Just like Radiohead, Interpol, and Muse...I can see the talent and i would never begrudge anyone liking them, but these bands do nothing for me. Whereas INXS rocked my world as I was growing up. Maybe it's because there songs ar... MORE

Day 5 - INXS - Mystify

Artist:
Album:
Track:
Blog post image preview Originally posted on September 17th, 2006 I taught myself to play keyboards by ear in the mid to late eighties. One of the first songs that I remember trying to figure out was this song. I remember seeing concert footage of INXS performing “Mystify”, and thinking that they sounded fantastic live. Michael Hutchence was one hell of a frontman. If I start keeping track of my favorite albums, “Kick” deserves a spot for sure. I actually started checking into the rest of the I... MORE

INXS - Golden Playpen

Some pretty funky 80's dancing in this video. "I'm drunk! Can't see my glass." Oh, those lyrics from yesteryear. I wore out two cassette tapes of the album Shabooh Shoobah in my early generation auto-reverse in-dash car stereo. It was one of the first CD's I bought when it came out in that format.

March 1993. My sister and I discover our taste in music for the first time. Me, U2 (Achtung Baby). Her, INXS (Welcome To Wherever You Are). She's 10 at the time. I'm 12. This is the year I tape everything and anything that sounds like U2 or INXS on the radio. U2 becomes my religion. I go back through the U2 catalogue and buy every U2 album and listen to it religiously. My sister gets hooked onto INXS's back catalogue and discovers "Kick". INXS becomes her religion. The Far... Haunting memories

Artist:
Album:

Rain?!? WTF?!? I was just about to start mogging when I heard the somewhat familiar "tink, tink, tink" on my storage shed and thought that sounds like rain but it's not in the forcast! Then it poured down for about 10 min and now the cloud is gone. So much for our technology for forecasting... I should always trust my wireless connection. It's far better than doppler. It never works properly when a storm is approaching and it has been down for the last two hours. Have yo... MORE

Rock 'n' Roll Personality Disorder: A Twelve Step Plan

Album: I am Searching

Blog post image preview 5. Keep Searching If you’ve seen the music doco Falling Light there’s a great line in it from Jeff Buckley’s mother where she says, “I have a picture in my mind that was actually a metaphysical image. That the body of my son was not the speck of dust they pulled out of the Wolf River but the body of his work.” It makes me think back to when Michael Hutchence sang “I Am Searching” with INXS at the 1997 Australian Record Industry Awards. It wasn’t public yet, but he ... MORE

...In The Name Of Love? Genius. I'm so playing this next time I DJ. (Oh yeah, Nickeii - I DJ. I DJ good. Well, I say good, it's more like adequate. Well, when I say adequate... ) Anyway! Eighties irony, asymmetrical birds nest hairdo's and ketamine sandwiches, that's what you kids like, isn't it? INXS there, marvellous.
