Thanks to TyleDurden ; "you ever think about writing kids books or something (I'm sure you could write adult books, it just seems like you are so good with kids :)) anyway -> TD out", I am now looking into two books - one is still my own style of memoir... a music/friend memory book that helps to explain who I am & why... but now I am talking with a very talented artist friend of mine who actually majored in children's psych to be the artist/creative consultant to a child... Russian Hill... Where's my car when I need it

Free music video of Russian Hill (19)
Right now... 4:30 can't come soon enough - I am listening to Jellyfish's Russian Hill & I just want to be behind the wheel of my car drivin home... Sure, I am trying my best not to go above the speed limit - not for the sake of safety - for the sake of gas... it cost me $50 to fill up late last week & I want to conserve that expensive elixir that makes cars go. But were it not for the cost, were it not for the fact that I got a half hour left at work - I'd be behind th... MORE

Jellyfish and The Zombies - a couple of a capella box set gems

Artist:
Album:

Blog post image preview Jellyfish was a power pop wonder, whose influence still rings through the genre today. Not Lame put out a 4-CD Jellyfish box set a few years ago - quite the endeavor for a group who only released 2 CDs before they broke up. The opening track of their CD "Spilt Milk" was a mostly a capella number called "Hush" which, for some reason, they kind of mucked up with silence, sound effects and god-knows what else. I much prefer the demo version which is very straightforward and ... MORE

My Favourite Mistake

Nobody's perfect, especially pop stars. A rush of creativity might mean that details get overlooked, and remain uncorrected. Here's a few examples of things gone slightly awry in some of our favourite music. I'm working on a bigger magazine piece along these lines, so if any Mogger has additional suggestions I'd be very interested to hear about them. DAVID BOWIE : Life On MarsTurn up the volume for the piano fade-out at the end, and you’ll hear a telephone ringing. It ... MORE

Found this live clip of Jellyfish from BBC Later... with Jools Holland 14th May 1993. It got me thinking about musicians who sing and drum at the same time. Anyone out there got any other examples?

Blog post image preview I won't go into detail in extolling its virtues. It's simply one of the greatest albums of all time. Every piece of it fits so well. http://zenandjuice.com/music/jellyfish/ http://www.myspace.com/jellyfishband

I use to like this band, in spite of their goofy garb. The singer had a great voice, the songs were poppy....with a bit of darkness hidden away in the lyrical content. Just good pop music. This is one of those bands people in the biz thought were gonna take off big time. It just never happened. I think it's cause their videos sucked....and maybe because of that, people just thought they were some weird silly bubblegum band. check out the vocals onn this one....... MORE
