Valentine's Day is just a few days away and I'm not a good shopper so I'm creating a can't miss mix tape. I've done all sorts of romantic mixes, but thinking a mix of Moggers wedding songs would be fun. So....what song did you play for your first dance with your beloved? Mine was Annie's Song by John Denver You fill up my senses like a night in a forestLike the mountains in springtime, like a walk in the rain Like a storm in the desert, like a sleepy blue oceanYou... "Rocky Mountain High": Colorado's State Song (almost)

Blog post image preview YAHOO!DENVER - "Rocky Mountain High," the late John Denver's love letter to his adopted state, became Colorado's second official song Monday. Lawmakers passed a resolution that puts Denver's 1972 anthem alongside the lesser-known "Where the Columbines Grow." Sen. Bob Hagedorn, who pushed for the second tune, said "Rocky Mountain High" has been an unofficial state song for years and has introduced many people around the world to Colorado. He said West Virginia ado... MORE

ihad seen on t.v. that john denver was coming here to do a concert and i had been such a huge fan for so long i could not wait to get my tickets. i asked my friend to come along but as they were not fans, they declined. unfortunately i am a rather shy person and did not fancy attending his concert on my own. to my surprise my girlfriends went ahead and bought tickets to johns concert and i was thrilled when they informed me we were on our way to see john the very next ni... In a hilarious NYTimes article, State Senator Bob Hagedorn, and the Colorado General Assembly, backtrack about the meaning of the John Denver song that they just proclaimed as the new additional state song. (It shares the title with Where Columbines Grow)They want to make absolutely clear, that the Rocky Mountain High is an endorphin rush, but not the kind that is produced by illicit drugs. Instead, this kind comes from nature, guys fishing, and chocolate.Read the full s... MORE

Wanna get away?

(340)
Blog post image preview A few things led me to post this today. I have been reading a lot of posts from people who have re-discovered long lost classics in their collections. I also have been noticing the name John Denver a lot here on MOG. It made me go into my collection to find a tribute cd that a lot of my favorite Minneapolis bands participated in back in 95. The cd was titled "Minneapolis Does Denver", and it had a lot of the more popular bands from my lovely city at the time. While many of... MORE

Sunshine on me bleedin Shoulders

I heard this song the other day driving through the grapevine heading to Los Angeles. For those not on the left coast the grapevine is the nickname for the Angeles National Forest which you hit on the way out of LA travelling north to San Francisco. Anywho, I was amazed at how good this song actually is. Something really unique about the John Denver hits, they really don't sound like anything else.
