Blog post image preview When Chris Blackwell(owner of Island Records) discovered Bob Marley, the knew that he found a goldmine. After years going back and fourth from Jamaica to London, bringing 7 inches, and later releasing them in Europe, Blackweel knew that he had to find somebody to turn reggae into a worldwide thing and his dreams came true when he added a magic touch to the Wailers and turned their raw sound into something suitable to America and Europe. When Marley was reality, Blackwell... MORE

I saw him on copacabana beach new years 2002/3...it was so cool to see him live and in front of what must have been millions of brazillians. To them, of course, he's a national (but especially to Rio) icon perhaps what a Paul Simon is to NY...had so much fun at that show: moro, no pais tropical!!! but I didn't hear umabarauma, xica da silva, or any stuff from africa brasil. at least I don't think I did... ;-)

I've had Umbabarauma by Jorge Ben on rep... MORE
