Ladies and gentlemen, I'm not even a huge Lil' Wayne fan, but this is just a great fuckin' song.
I can see Wayne falling into that category of "I don't like him, but I like his music" for me. From the couple interviews I've seen, and the little I know about him, dude just rubs me the wrong way. But, the kid has come a long way. I'll give him that. And the little fucker's got a swagger. Gotta respect that. I even like the video.
Lil' Wayne is dropping tunes and upping videos - could Carter III actually be on it's way finally? Here's the latest - the new video for "Lollipop":
"Lollipop" sounds like a Dirty South take on Rihanna's catchy chorus in "Umbrella-ella -ella": "He's so sweet, I wanna make him my Lolli-lolli-lolli-pop"
One of the things I love about hip hop music, is that at least once a year everyone and their mothers jump on the same beat and try to rip it. It's competition driven, but without all of the nasty negativity and drama. I thought it would be cool to compile all the A Milli "freestyles" I could find. Everyone from Jay-Z to Fabolous to Chris Brown and Jadakiss have jumped on this in the last month. Lil Wayne - A Milli (The Original song that started it all) http://www.zshar... MORE
Brand new video from Lil Wayne for his smash hit and oft-remixed "A Milli":
Weirdly enough, Ne-Yo dropped a video for his version of "Millie" last week, which seemed kinda weird since Weezy hadn't released his yet. Now that the official vid for the original tune is out, expect lots more to come for the remixes...
Lil Wayne is hardly ever seen without a styrofoam cup in his hand. The cup contains a mixture of promethazine, codeine, and the soda/juice of Wayne's liking. The concoction is known as "lean", "drank", "purple", "syrup" and a zillion other names throughout the south. In 2007 two southern rappers, Pimp C and Big Moe both died from complications related to drinking this mixture. That has led many people in Wayne's inner circle to pressure him to cut back on abusing the drug... MORE
Lil Wayne posted a video last night thanking the fans for the enormous success of his new album Tha Carter III. Before he actually got to the thanking, we're treated to this weird preamble about the book drive at his elementary school.
He's not lying when he raps "we are not the same... I am a Martian"
Finally, a Lil Wayne video with some substance. I think Weez is at his best when he spits about his hometown. And "Got Money" brings it on home:
Lil Wayne - "Got Money" ft. T-Pain & Mack Maine:
Of course, the director found a way to work strippers into a story about Katrina. But for once, Lil Wayne seems not to notice. Give that guy a Klondike...
