Ladies and gentlemen, I'm not even a huge Lil' Wayne fan, but this is just a great fuckin' song.
I can see Wayne falling into that category of "I don't like him, but I like his music" for me. From the couple interviews I've seen, and the little I know about him, dude just rubs me the wrong way. But, the kid has come a long way. I'll give him that. And the little fucker's got a swagger. Gotta respect that. I even like the video.

Wayne is following in the footsteps of Nas and choosing a childhood photo as the cover of his new album "The Carter III". While Nas took a more traditional approach, Wayne's baby picture is digitally altered with tattooed tears and bling.
Is he putting a twist on Nas' concept, or just plain ole biting?

"Lollipop" sounds like a Dirty South take on Rihanna's catchy chorus in "Umbrella-ella -ella": "He's so sweet, I wanna make him my Lolli-lolli-lolli-pop"

One of the things I love about hip hop music, is that at least once a year everyone and their mothers jump on the same beat and try to rip it. It's competition driven, but without all of the nasty negativity and drama. I thought it would be cool to compile all the A Milli "freestyles" I could find. Brand new video from Lil Wayne for his smash hit and oft-remixed "A Milli":
Weirdly enough, Ne-Yo dropped a video for his version of "Millie" last week, which seemed kinda weird since Weezy hadn't released his yet. Now that the official vid for the original tune is out, expect lots more to come for the remixes...

Lil Wayne's new single "Lollipop" moved from number 2 into the top spot after 183,000 downloads last week. This marks the first time Wayne has scored a number one single in his 9 year career. Before Lollipop, the highest he had reached on the charts was number 14 with "Go DJ". Yes, the anticipation is so thick for The Carter III that even the track list is causing lengthy debate. You'd be hard pressed to visit any hip hop blog right now and not see a post about this new Lil Wayne condom ad. The man who was heavily criticized for kissing another guy on the lips now appears in a compromising position in the new ad.
