Back in the mid-'80s, in pursuit of a story for Rolling Stone, I road in the van with Black Flag to Las Vegas, where they were playing a gig in a building that we were told was normally used to shoot porn films. Opening for Black Flag were the Meat Puppets. I'd never seen them before, and they blew me away. A lot has gone down since then -- with me, with the members of Black Flag and with the Meat Puppets.
