Well, I made it to Oregon alive; however, I'd have to say I found the real challenge to be making it back in one piece. But I am in fact back. I am so obsessed with Of Montreal's cover of this: which is M.I.A.'s cover of this: which is Parvati Khan from the movie Disco Dancer. Actually I'm obsessed with all of them. I want to listen to them all in a row, over and over. I wanted to play them all on my radio show today - instead I decided to calm down and just play the original. Next week, though, Of Montreal.

The list of nominees for the 2008 PLUG awards, dedicated to recognizing media and music in the independent community, has been announced. The top nominees for this year are Of Montreal, Battles, Dan Deacon. With all the fallout for Of Montreal's song "Wraith Pinned To The Mist And Other Games" being used in an Outback Steakhouse commercial as well as a recent T-Mobile video shoot which featured the band, fans are learning that the group is making a effort to, well, cash in. There were a lot of good albums in 2007. And I mean a lot. I listened to as many as I could, but the sheer volume of good music that was released was at once overwhelming and heart warming. I was thrilled to be surrounded by all this artful sound, but also intimidated by the mass amounts.

In the end, I suppose it was a good thing.
