A few days ago I went with my friend Angie to go see Wall-E. As a movie I must say it was freaking adorable. It really managed to put love and affection into a new light seeing as it was two robots (which I'm sure the Catholic Church has a problem with). The Filter is described as a discovery service: tell it the movies, music and web videos that you enjoy, and it will make daily recommendations of new material you might like. Mercy Street comes from one of my all-time favorite albums by Peter Gabriel, So. It is about the poet Anne Sexton, the title is taken from the name of her 1968 play 45 Mercy Street.
Here is a cover performed by the incomparable Happy Rhodes. Her 4 octave vocal range goes from the highs of Kate Bush to the lowest of Annie Lennox.

Even for Peter Gabriel, So was a breakthrough album, due in large part to his willingness to incorporate a variety of musical styles through collaboration with other artists. The most popular song from that album In Your Eyes, has become a concert staple for Gabriel. yes. yes i did get the peter gabriel secret world live dvd from the library. and yes, it is awesome. haha. thanks to brother august here, i had this little doozy shipped to my library where i rented and watched it over and over again. it came out, i believe in 1994, and filmed over two nights. i have his newest live dvd titled "growing up" and although the stakes were high, i believe the older "secret world" has just as many highlights as his latest masterpiece. if you a... From Womad to Real World, his projects have an integrity of purpose that I really appreciate.
