With the June 24th release of the groundbreaking Pixies album "Doolittle" on Rock Band, a little internet stir has arisen.  Some are understandably stoked, others perplexed (how does one exactly sing along to Tame?), and some, the most vocal internet majority no doubt, antagonist.   Sigh.  Kids-These-Days....am I right?  But then I think back and realize I was one of those kids and had to have my own mini come-to-pixies discussion with one far wiser than myself. I have been resigned to the fact that the mind control program I’m trying on my son isn't working. I watched this documentary on the pixies last night -- it was one of the best documentaries I had seen in a long while. It had soem amazing, spot-on perfromances (fullength songs!). It was also one of the saddest docs. I had ever seen. The band rarely spoke with one another, no smiles, all hand wringing and dishcord. Frank Black's creative juices are still flowing. He earlier this year he released Bluefinger under his Black Francis alias and has released a new solo album every year or two for the past fourteen years. Wow! That was THE BEST festival I have EVER been to! The sound was amazing, so much better than the quality of BDO sound which kept dropping-out during Muse last year and any other festivals. All the bands sounded great even from the back I thought, but I only really watched Phoenix and PIXIES from the back coz I was front-centre for their sideshow...
