Last Thursday I went over to my fav music store and made a major SCORE! I found 10 $1.00 cds that I wanted. As you might guess, this Q And Not U cd "Different Damage" ('03) was one of the highlights as well as their "No Kill No Beep Beep"('00). I had heard of these guys but hadn't heard any of their music. I'm liking them alot. They definitely have Modest Mouse as an influence, which is good cause I like MM alot! Picked up The Long Winters' "When I Pretend To Fall"('03) ... MORE

Ok, so just gotta ask, since the word has been bandied around here so much - when did "emo" take on its current connotation of modish, whiny boys? See, thing is, the first time I remember people using the term (for lack of a better) would have been about '94/'95, I think, when there were an awful lot of really good indie bands with a sorta hardcore sound but interspersed with melodic beauty, and lyrics that were smart, political, and personal.
