The first video from M.Ward and indie screen queen Zooey Deschanel aka She & Him's epynomous debut magically appeared today. It's cryptic but in a really sweet way and the animation takes one back to the Disney's Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah video. Kudos to Deschanel, who can even make vultures eating a carcass look adorable.

She & Him just announced a US tour in support of their debut album, Volume One. The duo will play shows around the east coast with one show in Canada. The list does not include west coast dates, but I sure hope some are added on later! So far, there's no word on whether this is a possibility or not. The weather and music here at SXSW have got something in common – they’re HOT! Temperatures peaked at an uncomfortable 95 degrees today. But, yours truly braved the heat (and most likely got a mean farmer’s tan) during day sets by She & Him, the Duke Spirit and Vampire Weekend. M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel have teamed up under the name She & Him, a name I didn't recognize when I saw it on the new Noise Pop lineup for this year's SF music festival. The duo are also scheduled for an appearance at SXSW as part of the Merge Records showcase. That's because Merge Records will release the debut She & Him album on March 18th. What are you gonna get when you see the hyped-up duo She & Him (She = actress Zooey Deschanel, while Him = indie rocker M. Ward)? A lot of she looking uncomfortable on stage and at him. If you wanna keep your hopes up, check 'em out at on their smaller-than-mini-tour. The three stop jaunt, even includes a stop at San Fran's 9th Annual Oysterfest where the duo will shuck and sing away on a bill that includes the Dropkick Murphey's, Mother Hips and Juliette and the Licks. ... Noise Pop music festival added She & Him - the combined powers of M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel - White Denim, Film School and The Rosebuds to the already hot lineup. The festival runs February 26th to March 2nd in San Francisco. Noise Pop is by the same people who brought us the Treasure Island Music Festival which rocked! She & Him will be playing a date here in July. I'm kind of perhaps considering going, and kind of not. I'm only vaguely familiar with their songs, although the ones I've heard are nice. Plus, I have deep suspicions regarding anything deemed "it." But, you know, they might be really great live. It might be worth the $20. Two of my favorite people in the world hooked up late last year for a one-off duet cover of Richard & Linda Thompson's "When I Get To The Border"... and now will be releasing an album together as "She & Him." On first listen just now, it feels like a hits & misses session. Deschanel's voice sounds adorable, funny, and legit most of the time; off-key and off-putting only occasionally. Really looking forward to the new She & Him record. I absolutely adore Zooey Deschanel, and her voice just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Same goes for M. Ward. Here's a sampling off Volume One, called "Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?"

This is very delayed, I apologize. I've been pretty sick/sleep-deprived this week. If you haven't heard by now, She & Him is Zooey Deschanel (Remember she sang "Baby It's Cold Outside" in Elf ?) and M Ward . I loved loved loved Zooey in Elf , so her album was highly anticipated one for me. For whatever reason, I thought Volume One would sound jazzier, like Zooey's rendition of "Baby It's Cold Outside....
