More news from planet ATP this week, the festival heads have announced that Sufjan Stevens along with My Bloody Valentine are the two most wanted artists to play at The Fans Strike Back festival in Minehead next year. The idea is that every week the ATP site will post the top twenty bands most wanted by the fans and the top two are asked.

So I thought this was interesting. From Stereogum: "Natalie Portman, aka Devendra's better half, is making her directorial debut with Eve, a 22-minute short film that stars Ben Gazzara and Lauren Bacall and a soundtrack by Sufjan Stevens." If you're like me, the last few months of non-stop popular Christmas music is like a slow methodical torture...every song another drip to the forehead...that's only ever broken up by moments of pure agony (McCartneys "wonderful christmastime", Band Aid's "do they know it's christmas", anyone singing along to the "Hanukkah Song"). There is something about the music Sufjan Stevens produces that makes one want to go exploring small towns. The man takes all sorts of information, adds folk rhythms and his amazing voice. Whats produced is not like anything else I've heard.

I was scanning the JB bargain bin on the odd chance something good was accidentally dropped in there, and found Sufjan Stevens' A Sun Came! for $9.95. Seeing as it was the only cd of his I didn't own, I hurried through the cluttered, illogical layout of the store and purchased it.
Satisfying find.
