Oh and a terrific singalong song with an intro that might have been stolen from the theme song to How I Met Your Mother : Sufjan Stevens: Come On! Let's Boogie to the Elf Dance. mp3
-Holy moly there are some great concerts in the weeks to come for those in the L.A. Area. Who gives a flying mug of eggnog about loved ones a... MORE

More news from planet ATP this week, the festival heads have announced that Sufjan Stevens along with My Bloody Valentine are the two most wanted artists to play at The Fans Strike Back festival in Minehead next year. The idea is that every week the ATP site will post the top twenty bands most wanted by the fans and the top two are asked.

So I thought this was interesting. From Stereogum: "Natalie Portman, aka Devendra's better half, is making her directorial debut with Eve, a 22-minute short film that stars Ben Gazzara and Lauren Bacall and a soundtrack by Sufjan Stevens." You can read the full article and a short interview with Sufjan here.

Ah, Christmas time. I love Christmas time. Cutting down a tree in the early morning frost. Christmas lights. Crazy decorations (I've always wanted a full light-up nativity set). Christmas parties. Gift shopping. Beautiful walks. Snow dustings. Best of all, December means Christmas MUSIC!!!! Vince Guaraldi Trio's score to A Charlie Brown Christmas is perhaps my favorite Christmas album. The jazz is smooth and delicate, while covering all the classics. A newer addition... MORE

Japan’s version of Sufjan Stevens, Shugo Tokumaru, recently rolled through the Daytrotter studios for a quaint session. Back in September I wrote a post on him and was quite impressed with the forest of instruments being played on most of his tunes. In the Daytrotter session we get to hear the skeleton of a couple [...]

There is something about the music Sufjan Stevens produces that makes one want to go exploring small towns. The man takes all sorts of information, adds folk rhythms and his amazing voice. Whats produced is not like anything else I've heard.

Falling in and out of love can be simply and yet, sweetly, written. This song immediately came to mind when I thought of sharing a short but bittersweet love song. The few lines and the beautiful rhymes make me appreciate the song even more. Props to one of the greatest songwriters in history. All the time we spent in bed
Counting miles before we set
Fall in love and fall apart
Things will end before they start
Sleeping on Lake Michigan
Factories and marching bands
