At Mister Jalopy's other Blog Dinosaurs and Robots, he has posted a rather elloquant reminiscence of MTV and posted some of his favorite videos via MTV's Video Archive. I strongly agree with his sentiment, because I was turned on to so many great things, and so many better things because of MTV. Be it the Nine Inch Nails video for Closer that aped the style of Joel Peter Witkens photography, or a video that refferenced a more famous movie, MTV was the cultural ground flo... MORE
I don't know about you but I can't take it anymore. Where the hell is the next Avalanches album? How long does a body have to wait? Well from what I can tell they've been working on it for some time. In a way I'm happy they're taking their time but at the same time I think I'm giving undo anticipation to the next album. They've been very secretive about their next album. From their site I know they've been putting on some shows over the years in Australia and releasi... MORE
Dear August's post reminded me of this vid...which also happens to be my favourite Avalanches' song...you kinda need to see this...
Psychotic + brilliant.
Frontier Psychiatrist
The Avalanches
This video, as well as this band, has always amazed me. Both really push the boundaries of their genre. I really enjoy them.

This is for Blair. These guys are from Australia & I saw them spin live at the Area 2 festival a few years back. They were AMAZING live & were mixing in all sorts of music
from Pablo Cruise to Michael Jackson & everything in between. I danced my ass off(& still can't find it, lol) they were jammin' so much. Good times!

i'm just hoping Matthew is working on Nada Surf's album as well.
can't wait for that to come out.
I discovered The Avalanches because of the Frontier Psychiatrist 12" single that was delivered to MUH, where I DJed while in high school - it subsequently became one of our local top songs. My final conclusion was that it's one of the greatest records, and the completely silly Frontier Psychiatrist pales in comparison to a cut like Live at Dominoes, particularly after... MORE
I realize I've posted a lot of videos lately which is somewhat regrettable since I don't want Mog to turn into a youtube mirror site, however I read Tyler's post about The Avalanches and realized that this is one of the best videos ever. I'm serious.
