Oh, the joy of being the parent of a teenager. Our oldest son came home from school today, and almost immediately thereafter went after our middle som in a vicious attack because he supposedly ate some of HIS precious Skittles, that he was hoarding in his room. After about five minutes of this, my wife reached the end of her tether and laid into him good, then proceeded to enter his room and take out everything he had been hoarding. I love songs that have been remixed from the original versions. Back when I actually had money to spend on music, I would seek out some of my favorite artists that would allow other artists to remix thier tracks. Even if it was just to add a slightly different flavor to the song, or to totally rip the song apart and remake it. This is one of those songs, outside of the one's I am going to post, I have 5 other versions of the track, not including a couple of live versions. ... MORE

This is my favorite ,and their best album IMO. An ex-girlfriend got me into this album. I've heard their stuff before this one, but this release is a straight ahead, AC\DC edge, pumping rock and roll record!

With all this gender stuff coming up in the election...(sorry that's the last time I mention politics on MOG!) I was thinking about boy songs vs girl songs. I tend to gravitate towards male vocalists, but there are some songs that I would love to hear interpreted by a female vocalist. Anybody know of any real examples (besides Tori Amos...she's little too dramatic for me)? I don't know of any...but I would love to hear The Cult's Wildflower sung by maybe, Chrissy Hynd... MORE

The Cult have recently announced the October 2nd release of their upcoming Born Into This (Roadrunner), their eighth album. Their first single “Dirty Little Rock Star” is now playing on key stations across the US. Frontman Ian Astbury has said that the band have recorded 13 new songs for use on the record, and have performed one new song, titled "I Assassin" live on their June 2007 European tour. The Cult reformed a few years ago and this was fantastic news. One of the coolest cassetes in the 80's was "Sonic Temple". "Born Into This" has taken The touring Cult all over the world...and currently a canadian tour is scheduled for spring(08). The latest dvd released a few months ago is nothing but great sounds from Irving Plaza New York 2006...and the band is currently releasing handfuls of live shows available on cd also!This is Tiger In The Sun - The Cult.More:http... Does anyone want to share their thoughts on the change in The Southern Death Cult to The Death Cult and then finally The Cult. I first saw the The Southern Death Cult on a lesser known Channel 4 programme (What they want' or something like that), and then saw them live, theyr had one single out (The Fat Man / Moya / The Girl) and latter an album but this was built up predominately with John Peel Sessions and rough live recordings. Just heard this song on my way to work today on Sirius. What an amazing album, besides She Sell Sanctuary and Rain this is one of the best songs on this milestone of an album.
