Well, the madness of the holiday is in the past now. We can stow the Christmas Music for another year. Now, as we gear up for New Year's Celebrations, I start with a toast to help ScottFree commemorate his team's season. But lest we forget, There is more to life than Football, sex, drugs, & Rock n Roll. That's the rumor, anyway.

Ever hear a tune on the TV, maybe in a commercial, and think "ZOMGZ, I need that song!" Happened to me a little while ago. I'm sitting there watching The Office, when this commercial comes on "Zoinks!" I say to myself. "That's a catchy tune." And so, armed with little knowledge, I set out to find it. The Flaming Lips will be honored in their hometown of Oklahoma City after a street in the city's Bricktown district is named after the alt-psych band. The Flaming Lips have been asked by the Oklahoma Gazette to participate in their annual Halloween parade. The March of a Thousand Flaming Skeletons, which will take place the weekend of October 26-27, is hyped as a "spectacle celebrating the mysterious, the supernatural and the otherworldly." I sing along with this song to my son. That may be a bit morbid, singing a song with the line "Do You Realize that everyone you know, one day, will die..." but the song, to me, is so heartfelt, and makes me appreciate being in the moment, or the moments I've had w/ others who are no longer here. The Flaming Lips will release their first live concert DVD U.F.O.'s AT THE ZOO: THE LEGENDARY CONCERT IN OKLAHOMA CITY on August 21st. The DVD's release had been delayed due to "technical tweaking of menus and functionality," according to a press release from the band. Along with the entire Oklahoma City concert, MP3s of the audio, digital artwork, and a ringtone application will come with the DVD. I've been listening to this album like mad lately and I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't come across it yet. At first I found it hard to listen to Flaming Lips but this is the one did it for me, now I'm a bit of a fan. Enjoy.
