To celebrate the Smashing Pumpkins' new album Zeitgeist out on July 10th the band will play an intimate club gig in Washington D.C.
The Pumpkins will play the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC on the release date, Tuesday, July 10th. The show begins early at 7PM.
Tickets for the CD release go on sale Friday, July 6th at 10am through tickets.com.
Yesterday the band announced a full fall tour that stops at auditoriums and theaters around the U.S.

So my roommate and I have a call and response mantra based on our favorite part of the song that goes "BANG BANG YOUR DEAD / HOLE IN YOUR HEAD." I think just for that, this song deserves recognition, not to mention that the version is quite stunning with a gradual shift in the ambient part away from norms, into Over the Rainbow and then coming back- modulating chords and key signatures the whole time. Lot of fun this one.

The Pumpkins played one of their most intimate club gigs on the night of their new CD release Zeitgeist at the 9:30 Nightclub in Washington DC. the pumpkins posted some new live footage on their myspace today. i pressed play with a shrug, then ended up watching in awe. it's as if i had completely forgotten the kind of control this band used to have over me, and i felt it again while watching it. driving to work with a proper ceramic mug of coffee (i am lacking a travel mug, so i had to take my chances). i was at a stop light, cupping the large thing with both of my hands, staring at the clear blue sky and lis... For the past two weeks, "1979" by the Smashing Pumpkins keeps popping into my head. The occurrences are so darn random, too; it happened once while I was brushing my teeth, another time while watching Who Killed the Electric Car?, then one time when I was having dinner, twice when I was conferencing with my boss, etc., etc. I cannot think of a single reason why the random button in my stream of consciousness keeps playing this song. partially thanks to Anna's Pumpkin Spice Challenge and partially thanks to my uncle for transporting my 8+ hours of random Pumpkins footage from the 90s onto DVD for me, I went out and tracked down a (really cheap) copy of Adore. there was one point in my life when I owned 44 Smashing Pumpkins CDs. this is if you were counting MCIS as 2 and The Aeroplane Flies High as 5. still, I think that is a pretty impressive number. over the last 7 years I lost the majority of th...
