The legendary band fronted by Britain’s mopiest musician, Robert Smith , returns again. Four years after their last release, The Cure have produced "4:13 Dream", which draws on nostalgia from their 80’s heyday while still pushing their work in a new direction. The name of the album itself is a reference to the band’s longevity, after 30 years the band have released their 13th studio album, and after the departure of keyboardist Roger O’Donnell this marks the f... Well, I just got done listening to the latest Cure single. Huh, I don't know what to say. It was o.k. I guess. While Wild Mood Swings had a few good songs and Bloodflowers was an unbelievable disappointment I really need to here all of 4:13 Dream. I've been a rabid fan for 20 some odd years and there was a time when all I listened to was The Cure, Depeche Mode, Joy Division, Nitzer Ebb, New Order, and The Smiths but all the while Robert and the boys remained my fav... Go ahead, put that red button in your Post-Punk Friday and smoke it. There was a time, a long time ago, when I didn't have every Cure album readily available to me. I hadn't delved into the back catalog beyond the Japanese Whispers mini-album, didn't have that desire to have every song Robert Smith committed to tape/vinyl/plastic/whatever. Taking a chance and picking up the Concert casette changed all that. Oh, the Concert side was good enough, a romp through some of t... MORE
2) Doodle Robert Smith on a spare scrap of the NY Post
3) Re-read all his infamous interviews from Rollingstone looking for inspiration
4) Think about how guilty all those major labels that first rejected the skinny kids from London's Crawley suburbs back in the day. Think about how many bands I know currently in the same predicament and surviv... MORE

Crawley's finest return for album 13 of articulate moping over glorious pop hooks. And one real stinker.

The Cure 4:13 Dream Geffen 2008 If you were like me, growing up an outcast in the '80s, there were three bands that were the soundtrack of your lost, lonely and lustful life—Depeche Mode, New Order and The Cure. While, mi hermano was devoted to Robert Smith and The Cure, my lyrical corazon belonged to Mode and New Order. I admit I wasn't a diehard Cure fan... MORE
Robert Smith doesn’t want you to buy the new Cure Hypnagogic States EP from iTunes. Says paying £7.99 for it is a rip off and "absurd"! In a blog post on Cure’s Web site Smith not only sounded pissed about it ("For fuck sake!) but points out that it’s "not a fucking album, it’s a 5 track EP"! At least he’s doing something about it. You can find out what he really feels the EP should go for below.

Another 13th has passed and with it The Cure have released a video for the third single "Sleep When I'm Dead" off their forthcoming album. The untitled effort -- tentatively being called mix 13, is the band's 13th studio album -- is promised to be out September 13th. Hopefully by then it will also have a real title. The single was released yesterday with the b-side Down Under. Personally the video is a little hard for me to watch. Robert Smith has GOT to get himself a ne... MORE
