Just passing on a new one from the latest Tilly And The Wall album...I don't think it's as good as the previous two, but still well worth picking up. I just never get tired of these voices layed over the tap dancing as percussion beats.
...due to the National holiday. No, Bush and Cheney haven't been impeached and forced to resign, but it is Independence Day here in the US, they day we celebrate cutting ties with the Empire that spawned us so that, some 200 years later, we could become one of our very own. That said, today's programming will not be hosted but it will contain brand new material from Beck (Los Angeles, CA), Globes On Remote (Los Angeles, CA), Daedelus (Los Angeles, CA), Darker My Lo... On my way home from work today, I listened to a little Lily Allen. Once I got to my place I settled in after a very long week of proofing until my eyeballs fell out and writing until my hand dropped off, so I decided to tone things down. This was achieved with a few tracks from The Avett Brothers' The Gleam II album-love it. And I can't even explain how good it felt. I was right at home: a place I've been trying to avoid for some time, but I deci... MORE

Team Love Records recording artists Tilly And the Wall spent most of the winter holed up in a recording studio working on the follow-up to their 2006 album Bottoms of Barrels. The Omaha, Nebraska based group, who instead of a drummer rely on tap dancer Jamie Pressnall show-stomping for beats, are headed to SXSW for a few shows next month where they will most likely sample their new record. In the meantime, the indie pop band have released the first video for a new track ca... MORE
I saw Tilly and the Wall on thursday night at Emo's here in austin. I have only seen them once before and it was right after their last album came out and I remember saying to myself "jezzze louise! i need to get this tout suite!" Well, thursday I went through the same exact thing. Tilly is amazing, they put on a great show. Eventhough I am unfamiliar with their new things, I love them and I danced my heart out. The two openers were great as well. I have loved Belai... MORE
Sorry...i guess I was a little depressed and in a moment of weakness I posted that...no excuse I know, but what's done is done...I can only try and erase it from your minds with a good song.
So...here is a 'Tilly And The Wall Song'
Enjoy
I've been gradually reading up on band announcements for 2008 SXSW. I usually read Donewaiting and Austinist. There are of course loads more sites with info. Eric & I (and hopefully Kelle) would love to concentrate on discovering new bands this year. It's fun to see bands you know, but southby is really 'bout the newest in new. Of course, if we've never seen 'em live, it is kind of hard to pass up some of the more well-known acts. Last year, for example, we missed T... MORE

Aaaannnnd, as a bonus:
If you're named Mimi, quite a bit of teasing in elementary school and then in your adult life, everyone telling you they call their grandmother Mimi.
I, of course, did not call my grandmother Mimi. I called her Tilly. Hence my immediate affection for a band named Tilly and the Wall. They are quite lovely and watching this video I'm immediately reminded of their friendship with Of Montreal. This is their new single, "The Freest Man."
