Thank you, NPR All Songs Considered. I spent Saturday night thoroughly enjoying their latest concert offering: Tom Waits. It's downright awesome. Calling the tour "Glitter and Doom", Waits puts on a fantastic show from Atlanta's Fox Theater (on July 5) for nearly two-and-a-half hours. The band is right up to Waits' usual standards. It's a must hear for Waits fans. This guy loses nothing with age. Download it through iTunes or listen at the page. It's a keeper. Linky go... MORE
Jean-Michel Basquiat grieves for Andy Warhol. As a desheveled, strung out Basquiat watches old home movies of Warhol, the music of Tom Waits in this scene says more than any dialouge ever could.
swingin' from the rafters in his brand new tie... Notable July suicides: Man cuts off own head with chainsaw In keeping with Channel 40's policy of bringing you the latest in blood and guts At the age of 37, he walked into the fields and shot himself in the chest
but I won't. I mean it's TOM WAITS! And it's his first ever show in Columbus, and most definitely his last. But look at some of these Craigslist postings...I am so poor and I could use the money...but I could use 2 hours of live Tom Waits more!

Elsewhere on MOG at this moment a roadie for a middle-of-the-road rock musician is heard to say that this is the best song ever. This claim seems worth a 99 cent expenditure to investigate. Let's all find out together. ("Also, Dude, 'roadie' is not the preferred nomenclature. 'Technicians,' please." ~Walter Sobchak) ... ("Calmer 'n you are....." ~Walter Sobchak) ...
A beautiful two hour love song to the power of memory, imagination, and the human spirit. The true story of the former editor of Elle Magazine, Jean-Dominique Bauby, who suffers a severe stroke and is left with a rare condition called 'locked in syndrome.' He retained vision and hearing, and his mind continued to function perfectly, but his body was almost completely paralyzed. He could not move or speak.
Through a painstakingly slow system of blinks he is able to dictate... MORE
I'm actually chuffed to get tickets to see Tom Waits.
For various reasons I've been waiting 23 years for this, which is perhaps why I didn't bat an eyelid at TWO HUNDRED QUID FOR TWO TICKETS!!! And why exactly does the second ticket also cost a fiver to put in the same envelope as the first one?
Rant over. I'm actually quite excited. I'm just praying nobody wheels on young Scarlet for a duet - that would be wrong.
Eva just called me a nerd because i made a playlist that i'm currently listening to with Tom Waits followed by Scarlett Johansson's cover of each song.
A very insightful interview Tom Waits conducted with, well, Tom Waits was recently published online. In it we discover some of the deeper personal meanings behind some of his songs, a list of some of the most influential artists upon his life and why, as well as just the general tomfoolery we've grown to expect from Waits.
I must admit, before meeting Tom, I had heard so many rumors and so much gossip that I was afraid. Frankly, his gambling debts, his animal magnetism, co... MORE
