So I got to see Wilco last night. While it was against my better judgement and against my bank account to do so, it will be a night that I won't soon forget.
Matt and I had talked about this show for a long time. All spring and summer, in fact. With all of the shows and all of the vacations that were to be squeezed in this summer, a little Wilco show in the Berkshires was probably not gonna make it onto the itinerary. You see, Matt and I have been alums of Wilco'... MORE
I took a quickie flight up north yesterday to hit the last day of this SF Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival and meet up with Wilco on the last show (this leg) of their tour. This time I brought with me a digital camera, so I can make some quick snap report of the day. I didn't explore the festival itself too much due to my inappropriate shoes. I didn't allow myself enough time to THINK ahead as I barely made it to my flight out. Although, by 10am, I already did quite a f... MORE
Once I finally get the hang of this thing, they come and tell me it's over? The final day or Outside Lands Festival in Golden Gate Park got off to a nice slow start with some french toast and temperatures in the low seventies. I was starting to get to that point that everyone gets to at festivals where they no longer push their way to the front for a band, but instead grab a drink and chill in the back. Unfortunately we only heard snipets of Andrew Bird performing songs o... MORE
While Lollapalooza ticket holders were coming down from Wilco's Saturday night performance at the fest, Chicago Cub fans were experiencing one of the greatest Wilco performances ever Sunday midday at Wrigley Field. Nuff said. A Jeff Tweedy interview follows the seventh inning stretch.
Shout out to my pal and Wilco diehard Dan Fetter for sending me the link!
At long last Wilco fans, your patience is paying off. Wilco have just announced a tenative spring release date for their upcoming album. Lead singer and amazing song-writer Jeff Tweedy recently told a New York radio station that the the band will "allow ourselves a little bit more leeway in terms of sculpting the sound in the studio and doing overdubs and using the studio as another instrument. Last time around, it was more of a document." A number of unfinished songs fr... MORE
Saw Wilco last night at Lollapalooza. Great tune. I forget the name but he called it a WIP (Work in Progress). They closed Sat nigiht opposite Rage and were incredible. They came out in brand new nudie suits and played a great set. The setting was beautiful and to see them play thier home town with skyscrapers in the background as the sun set was amazing. I always like seeing new tunes expecially when they are in their infancy. It's really fun to see how songs take shape... MORE
After sleeping in until noon thanks to those nifty "do not disturb" signs, I decided to make my pilgrimage once again to the holy land of music festivals in Chicago's now trashed, Grant Park. The day started off a lot breezier than yesterday's with high clouds and high hopes. Temperatures barely peeked 80 degrees with the humidity keeping a pretty low profile. This morning was a little different than yesterday for more reasons than the weather though. No, the spring in my... MORE
Since Day 2 went so swimmingly, I decided to show up early and check out some of the culture. There were a few cool booths, including one where you could create your own trippy t-shirts with heat transfers for free. There was also a live artist who was working on a SWEET painting. There was also Crowdfire, which was apparently some place where everyone could upload their own photos from the

The lucky folks of America are currently being treated to the superb double whammy of Wilco and Fleet Foxes as they tour the States together. Being a huge fan of both, I could only dream of that kind of thing happening over here. Doubtful really, considering Jeff Tweedy's dislike for the UK seemed to step up a notch after last years cancellation of a number of dates. This kind of makes up for it though. ...

Thanks to Boston,Ma-based weblog, RYANSSMASHINGLIFE , I'm going to see Wilco and Andrew Bird tomorrow night, in one of the most beautiful settings in the northeast, Tanglewood, in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts. Thanks for the hook up! It looks like I'll be a little sleepy-eyed at work on Wednesday (not to mention for Radiohead on Wednesday night!). But whats a two and a half hour drive for some Wilco deliciousness?
