Wire is preparing for a new wave of tour dates while details of their upcoming new album are trickled out on the band's website. Object 47 is the band's 11th studio album, but it's actually the 47th release in Wire's full discography! The new Wire music is great and I've fallen under the spell of their whole catalog this week. Whatever Wire have been in the past [angular punks, uneven synth-poppers] they are now a driving, buzzing, popping and cooly aestheticized machine with newfound shamelessness in thier simple pop-hooks. I was talking this weekend with a classmate about how much we loved to play Scattergories, when I brought up the distinct advantage we had when the best scattergory ever came up ... band names. September 9: Wire, "Practice Makes Perfect" Although I may consider the Minutemen my #1 band, Wire is #1A. Wire. I can't say enough.
One of my faves is "I Feel Mysterious Today" from 154.
I liked so much I painted the words (in acrylic paint) on a white T shirt. Wife made me throw it away. That old thing. (Insert awkward moment and tears).
Man, Did I fall for them good.

I absolutely love this band and this album. This song in particular has everything going for it... it is so clever! I have the album on vinyl but I'm reduced to play an old cassette from 1984. I played it the other day and thought, "oh, how perfectly modern!"
