MOG MOG

WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

(55)

I've been revisiting George Harrison's "Isn't it a Pity" and the song's influence on Coldplay's "The Scientist."

Listening to "The Scientist" inspired this poem I wrote today.

Shaking the Photobooth Curse

Like the scratch of a vinyl
spinning on repeat
without control, "You are
sleeping; you do not
want to believe."
One kiss, this couple
distant hiding in
between the cracks
and flashes of windy
City light captured
a glimpse like the
Spark from a forgotten
Scientist’s discarded theory
never to survive
the remnants from this
Moment ever again.

Now I walk in this duet
we may trip and sometimes
stumble off key, yet
we continue this new
Garden hand in hand
together refusing to
Go inside and take
our picture. We
prefer mental portraits
cherishing the present
given like a gift
to focus without
the lens. Let us dream,
Treasure this glow
In every step
Within every minute
We develop these memories
Before our very eyes.
